MR. JEFFREY THAMSANQA “JEFF” RADEBE

Mr Jeffrey Thamsanqa “Jeff” Radebe is a former South African Cabinet Minister, having served most recently until 2019 as the Minister of Energy. Previous portfolios include Minister in the Presidency: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development. Radebe was South Africa’s longest continuously serving cabinet member, having been part of every national administration since 1994 and under every post-apartheid President. He holds a B.Juris degree from the University of Zululand and LLM in International Law from Leipzig University. He is the head of the ANC Policy Unit, and in the struggle against apartheid underwent military training with Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK). He was convicted under the-then Terrorism Act and sentenced to imprisonment on Robben Island. Mr. Radebe was appointed as a Special Investment Envoy by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2019.
