Mr. Jan Fourie’s career of over 14 years have been mainly focused on infrastructure and energy.  He started his career as engineer in the energy sector, with a stint in nuclear power, working for a consultancy dedicated to upgrades and modifications at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.  This was followed by a 7 year period working for one of the construction majors in South Africa, predominantly involved within the EPCM project environment in the energy and minerals sector.  Most notably, Jan was involved with the development, bidding, financial close, construction and commissioning of two Round 2 REIPPP projects, one wind and one solar. After completing his MBA in 2013 Jan was looking for a commercially orientated role in the renewable energy sector and joined Scatec Solar in January 2015 as Business Development Manager, focusing on Southern Africa.  Then in July 2016 Jan was asked to take the helm of Scatec Solar’s South African business as General Manager and in July 2017 took on the added responsibility of project development for the Sub-Saharan African region.  At the beginning of 2021 Jan transitioned into GM for Sub-Sahara Africa and passed on the development responsibility. His most notable achievements at Scatec include leading the recently completed 258MW portfolio outside Upington through its various stages, from development through to operation. As well as overseeing the development, financing, and construction of Mozambique’s first Solar PV Facility, the 40MW Mocuba facility in the Zambezia province.
