Ms. Kanyiselo Kumalo is an Energy Analyst. Khanyiselo assisted GreenCape in exploring the transport sector of the green economy. With a focus on supporting the development of the nascent electric vehicle market in the Western Cape and the rest of South Africa, her overall aim was to identify investment opportunities that would contribute to sustainable and alternative energy solutions for the transport sector. More recently, Khanyiselo completed a study for GreenCape that serves as an account of the consequences of a hydrogen-based energy transition on the social welfare of vulnerable workers and communities in Mpumalanga. To further expand her knowledge in the renewable energy landscape, Khanyiselo is in the process of completing her Master’s in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management at Aalborg University in Denmark. Turning her attention to the value in PtX, her research is trying to determine whether hydrogen-based energy carriers could be an alternative route for SA to maintain it’s role as an energy exporter.
